Our history

Original Hamburg Walks was created as the sister company to the internationally respected Original Berlin Walks, bringing the same commitment to high-quality, story-driven walking tours to Germany’s great port city. Building on decades of experience in Berlin, our Hamburg team combines deep historical knowledge with a passion for sharing the city’s unique maritime heritage, architecture, and vibrant neighborhoods.

What began as an extension of our Berlin expertise has grown into a dedicated Hamburg operation, offering engaging English-language walking tours and private experiences for visitors from around the world. From the UNESCO-listed Speicherstadt to the modern HafenCity, from St. Pauli’s colorful history to the elegance of the Elbphilharmonie, our guides bring Hamburg’s stories to life with clarity, insight, and humor.

Meet our guides

Bob

Bob, from the port city of Wilmington, North Carolina, USA, came to Germany in 1979 as a young man planning to stay for a couple of years to immerse himself in the German culture and to learn the German language. He has now been here for over 40 years. For much of this time he was a musical director and orchestra conductor for many of the major musical productions in the German-speaking world. Now retired, he can devote his time to his passion: the history of Germany, both social and political; particularly the history of Hamburg and Northern Germany.
Padraic

Padraic is a proud Irishman from Dublin with a Master's degree in Journalism. With over ten years of experience in radio and podcasts, he brings a wealth of storytelling expertise to his work as a tour guide. Having lived in Berlin since 2020, Padraic is also passionate about stand-up comedy, adding a touch of humor to everything he does.
Luisa

Luisa, a true Berliner from Pankow, is passionate about sharing her city with our guests from all over the world. After graduating from the John F. Kennedy School, she pursued a degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences at Maastricht University in the Netherlands. Luisa’s tours provide a vibrant and engaging experience for all her guests.
Gregor

One of our true born-and-bred Berliners, Gregor's Art History studies led him to a career in tour guiding that started in 2015. What Gregor loves most about guiding is the dynamic dialogue and the exchange of ideas with his guests. His deep knowledge of Berlin's history and culture, paired with his great sense of humor, ensures that every tour is both informative and memorable.
Glen

Glen, originally from Liverpool, England, is a tour guide and travel photographer who fell in love with Berlin in 1995 when he came to study here and lived in student accommodation in deep East Berlin. He’s been returning ever since and eventually settled here a few years ago. Glen loves meeting new people and sharing his enthusiasm for this fascinating city. Warm, friendly, and approachable, he’ll ensure you make the most of your time in Berlin.
